Dr. JaKobe Henry is a trumpet player, educator, and composer/arranger whose work spans jazz and classical traditions. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Music at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, where he teaches trumpet and related areas.

Dr. Henry earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Performance and a Master of Music in Classical Trumpet Performance from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education (K–12) from Jacksonville State University. His teaching and performance interests center on versatile musicianship, sound development, and thoughtful engagement across musical styles.

His research on trailblazing trumpeter Barbara Donald has been presented at the International Women’s Brass Conference and the International Trumpet Guild Conference. Dr. Henry has served on the judging committee for the Junior Division of the National Trumpet Competition since 2024 and has received national and international recognition, including an Air Force Band Diversity Fellowship and selection for the International Trumpet Guild’s New Work Competition.
